What to sell on Uzum: how to choose a profitable product and niche

There is no single answer to “what to sell on Uzum” for everyone. A good product is one with stable demand, where competition has not yet filled the niche and profit remains after commission, logistics and advertising. If even one of these conditions fails, even the most popular category can bring a loss. Below is how to choose a product step by step, with numbers.
The short answer
A product has to pass four questions:
- Is there demand? Money circulates in the category, and it is not shrinking.
- Is there room? Sales are not concentrated with one or two leaders, and a new card can sell too.
- Does profit remain? Even at competitors' prices, money is left after all costs.
- Is it right for you? You can supply the product steadily, and its size, certificates and return risk do not scare you.
1. Make a list of ideas
At the first step, write down not one product but 10–20 candidates. Where to look for ideas:
- in a niche you know well — you understand the buyer's questions;
- in growing sections on the category map;
- in growing Uzum search queries;
- in supplier and manufacturer catalogs;
- in the nearest season (school, holidays, summer, winter).
The wider the list, the easier it is to cut candidates later by numbers.
2. Assess demand
For each candidate, check:
- Category size — revenue and number of sales per month. In a small category even the best card will not sell much.
- Growth — change versus the previous period. In a growing market it is easier for a newcomer to find a place.
- Search queries — which words buyers use to search for this product and how much money a query brings.
- Distribution — whether sales are spread across many cards or concentrated in a few.
If most of a category's sales go to 2–3 cards that are far ahead on reviews and rating, there is little room for a new card.
3. Check competition
Where there is demand, there are competitors. What matters is how hard it is to enter:
- how many stores are in the category and how many of them actually sell;
- what share of the market the leaders hold;
- how many reviews the TOP-10 search cards have;
- how much advertising there is in the top positions.
These metrics are covered in detail in the article how to choose a niche on Uzum by 5 metrics.
4. Calculate profit before you buy
This is where mistakes are most common: the product sells well, but no money is left. Start the calculation from competitors' prices, not the price you want:
Net profit = price − Uzum commission − logistics − storage − advertising − returns − tax − cost price
The commission depends on the category — check the current rate in the seller cabinet tariffs. Logistics depends on package volume and is calculated by the logistics calculator. Enter the rest in the profit calculator.
A simple test: will you still have a profit if the price drops 10%? Promotions and competitors periodically cut prices, so do not take a product that works “right on the edge”. How the price is built up is shown in the article how to calculate a price on Uzum.
5. Account for season and trends
- Look at the category's dynamics over at least 90 days — a weekly rise may be the start of a season.
- Send seasonal products to the warehouse in advance: preparing and receiving a delivery takes time.
- Trending products rise fast and fall fast. Do not take them in a big batch — the leftover stock goes into paid storage.
6. Check whether the product suits you
- Size and weight. Logistics is charged per liter: a cheap product in a big package is often unprofitable.
- Certificates and restrictions. Some products need documents, some cannot be sold at all — check the list of prohibited goods in advance.
- Return risk. Clothing with sizes and fragile goods have more returns.
- Supply. Once sales take off, the product must not run out — empty stock drops the card's positions.
Typical beginner mistakes
- Entering the most popular and crowded category because “everyone sells there”.
- Setting a “cost price + markup” price without looking at competitors.
- Taking a big first batch instead of a test one.
- Ignoring logistics, storage and advertising.
- Filling in a card without keywords — the product cannot be found in search.
About lists of “best-selling products”
The best-selling products on Uzum change every week and depend on the category, so static “TOP-10” lists quickly go stale. It is more reliable to look at current leaders in the products section of market analytics, sorted by revenue. A leader is not a ready answer but a sample to study: look at its price, reviews and stock.
How to check in MARGN
- On the category map, assess size and growth.
- In the products section, sort cards by revenue and open them down to SKU level.
- In the store ranking, check the leaders' share.
- In the keywords section, assess opportunity and difficulty of entry.
- Calculate the result in the profit calculator.
